- I agree. The setup I'm using requires the minimal amount of
- configuration hell, which is why I'm supporting it (and paying
- all the shareware fees).
-
- MultiLink - Emulates AmiTCP and AS225 (perfectly (as far as I can tell)
- connects to my UNIX account, and is a (relative) DREAM to
- configure. Get a copy of dialer.device to make it all that
- much easier.
- AirMail - Not the most powerful email program for the Amiga, but the
- only one that just needs one or two simple items (POP
- server address, and domain name) to get going. And Danny's
- constantly improving it.
- mNews - MUI-based GUI newsreader. At version 0.2, it's still in
- the alpha (or is he calling it "pre-alpha"?) stage so it's
- pretty basic, but it works, it's fast, and it took me about
- 30 seconds to configure.
-
- With these 3 programs I got up and running as fast or faster as I
- did on my Mac. BTW, once you get MultiLink (or the real AmiTCP)
- running, all the web browsers work with no additional configuration
- (I think-I've only tried AMosaic and the Ibrowse demo).
-
- To be fair, I've heard that some of the other alternatives out there
- are easier to get going than they were when I first started looking
- at them a year or so ago, but these three programs definitely have
- a special place in my heart because THEY WERE EASY TO USE WHEN ALL
- THE OTHERS WEREN'T!
